Tent City No Longer

Today is the day.

Or should I say, the last day.

Coming down from an Akron City Council decision in September, today is the last day for people to continue living in tents in what has been called “Tent City”, a local homeowner’s own private property that he has been allowing homeless people to live on for the last (almost) two years.

The city of Akron will continue to support and provide assistance to all who are struggling with homelessness, as they have already helped many of the individuals who used to be living within this Tent City.

I have already detailed many of the different organizations and non-profits in the city of Akron, and how they support the homeless population, in some of my earlier blog posts.

During this Holiday season, I urge you to keep those in mind who don’t have the ability to sit inside of a house and have a home-cooked meal with their family.

If you can help out in any way, any of the non-profit organizations in Akron could use help in many different ways…

  • Clothing donations (especially things like socks, underwear, and boots during these months of the year)
  • Canned/non-perishable food donations
  • Donation of your time (to assist with events or general upkeep of their location)
  • Monetary donations

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, y’all.

-Tyler
